Processing costs LCV about 3.5% plus 49¢ per gift — we are not yet recognized as a 501(c)(3), which does not qualify for PayPal’s charity rate. Your gift is not tax-deductible as a charitable contribution.
$10 a month is a workshop every quarter, forever. Monthly donors get the annual financial report early and an invitation to the yearly members’ call with the President.
Donations to LCV are not tax-deductible yet. We are a Washington nonprofit corporation seeking IRS recognition as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization.
We chose that path deliberately. Our work — nonpartisan voter education and candidate training open to everyone on equal terms — is charitable and educational in the tax law’s own categories, and 501(c)(3) status is what lets your gifts do more: once the IRS grants recognition, contributions become deductible, and recognition generally reaches back to cover the application period.
Until then, give knowing the deduction isn’t certain. The moment recognition is granted, we will say so plainly, on this page, with the date. Ask your own tax adviser how any of this applies to you.
